The papers are made up of a combination of documents, business records, correspondence, photographs and printed ephemera from and about the properties of Diana Baillieu's ancestors in Western Victoria; clippings, family history research material (some originals and many photocopies), printed ephemera, and correspondence among members of Diana Baillieu's generation. Interspersed among the papers are documents, correspondence, printed ephemera relating to Waltzing Matilda and specifically Christina Macpherson's role in introducing A.B.Paterson to the tune for the song.

Abstract Or Scope
This collection contains correspondence, diaries, photographs and related papers. The bulk of this material was collected by Dr Kathrine Reynolds while researching and writing her book, The Frauenstein letters : aspects of nineteenth century migration from the Duchy of Nassau to Australia (2009). This material includes: letters, 1856-1883, comprising 23 letters described as 'The Muller Letters', written from Europe to Australia by Eva Leitz, Christina Schmitt, George Muller, Widow Gietz and Johann Schmitt, and 12 letters described as 'The Fuchs/Klein Letters', written from Australia to Europe by Maria Fuchs, Jacob Klein and Katharine Klein; diaries, 1872-1941, primarily of J.J.H. Muller and George Muller; two photograph albums, c. late 1800s, including photographs of the Muller family; and other documents, including research notes by Dr Reynolds.

The main bulk of the manuscripts is made up of some fifteen hundred pieces from the Townshend papers relating chiefly to the period 1688 to 1753. Apart from the principal group the collection includes Gregory King's Observations and conclusions natural and political, upon the state and condition of England etc.. some letters of John Stuart Mill, a number of letters from Robert Owen, (a small group written mainly by Chartists to J.A. Roebuck), (and a considerable group of letters and other material of W.J. Linton).

Included are Wood's letters, handwritten comments (a later transcription), and a signed copy of Harcourt and Kenyon's reprint in Kyklos. A newly created context and summary accompanies this material.

The collection comprises correspondence, photographs and biographies collected by Agnes and Joe Karlik relating to individuals and families who emigrated to Australia on the Anna Salen. The collection also includes an alphabetical list of the Ship's Manifest, a copy of Estonia's War Children: a fractured generation, compiled and narrated by Mai Maddisson, a visitor's book from a reunion of former inhabitants of the Northam Migrant Camp in Western Australia plus material relating to Agnes Karlik's father, Gustav Kovacs, who was a pioneer of the Hungarian film industry.
