The papers include personal and professional correspondence, drafts and typescripts of poetry, copies of articles, reviews, talks, lectures, manuscripts, writings, notes, cuttings and reports relating to Mead's career as a poet, writer, editor, lecturer, teacher and literary reviewer.
The papers comprise files maintained by successive secretaries of the Association including R.A. Edwards, R. McCreddin and Bruce Devlin. There are also records of the Vice President, T.J. Leo and the Convenor of the Research Management Committee, Roland Mortlock. The records include correspondence, Council papers, Executive papers, records of the Research Management Committee, records relating to the constitution and regulations, minutes, circulars, submissions, reports, publications, a tape and other materials.
Diaries and correspondence. The diaries were kept by Edward Towle, describing the journey from Liverpool to Australia in 1852 and a visit to Java and Singapore in 1853. The letters of Edward and Benjamin Towle to their mother and sister contain news from the goldfields at Creswick and Ballarat.

MS Acc09.091 and MS Acc09.113 consignments comprise press cuttings, articles, correspondence and documents relating to policies of the National Library of Australia on collection development and information technology such as Kinetica and World 1 project, the National Document and Information System (NDIS). The World 1 project, an electric network connecting Australian and New Zealand libraries, was to be a system that would link libraries around Australia and provide electronic access to international materials not held by the Library.

Ward reflecting the history of Postmarks was filmed by the Australian Joint Copying Project includes letters are grouped by State of origin, with any New Zealand letters following the Australian items. Within each State group the correspondence is divided, where necessary, into commercial, private and church letters.
