Material in the Geography and Travel ephemera collection covers significant information about the geography, history, and tourist activities of places in Australia, its Antarctic and island territories. This includes geographical features, national parks and reserves, regions, cities, towns, buildings and other man-made structures. The collection includes advertising material, pamphlets, price lists, tokens, area and accommodation guides, brochures, postcards, stickers, labels and tickets.

The papers consist largely of research material compiled by Wannan during his career as a folklorist, columnist, editor, writer and anthologist. They comprise correspondence, publications, cuttings, photocopies of articles, notes and notebooks, scrapbooks, pictorial material and a comprehensive selection of Wannan's own publications. A large part of the correspondence scattered throughout the collection is from readers of his Australasian Post column, 'Come in Spinner' (1955-1980).

The collection comprises drafts of the poems for Robert Gray's book Afterimages and drafts of other poems as well. There are proofs for Grass script: selected earlier poems, published in the United Kingdom in 2001, that show many re-workings not incorporated into any edition in Australia. Also, proofs for Afterimages and revised proofs for some reviews Gray wrote for The Australian. The collection also includes correspondence, ca. 1999-2004.

A collection of photographs of Barat Ali Batoor's journey and other Hazara asylum seekers as they fled oppression in Afghanistan and Pakistan in 2012. Includes the smugglers' route through Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia and on the final sea leg to Austrlaia. The journey to Thailand was undertaken legally, but the illegal journey with people smugglers started on entering Malaysia. The boat from Indonesia did not make it to Australia, running aground on rocks off the coast of Java, with 90 people on board.--Information from acquisitions documentation.

Abstract Or Scope
The papers consist of twenty five typescript drafts, many of them annotated, of published works for children and teenagers. There is also a small amount of correspondence between Klein and Max Dann, who jointly wrote The Lonely hearts club, published in 1987. The letters exchanged between the two authors are at the end of each chapter of the drafts (Folder 8). The correspondence gives an insight into how the two writers developed the plot, and approached their joint work. Typescripts of two stage and film adaptations of Klein's novels, Boss of the pool and Came back to show you I could fly, are also included.
