This collection comprises extensive research files for books published by Tim Bonyhady from the 1970s to 2010. Included are copies of newspaper and journal articles; a small quantity of colour photographs, negatives and transparencies pertaining to the Burke and Wills expedition and Colonial art; edited typescripts, handwritten notes, and correspondence with readers and fellow academics. The collection also includes files relating to the environmental law and the Australian Conservation Movement, such as legal documents, scientific studies, assessments, conference papers and review submissions; records relating to the Environment and Natural Resources Committee; and records relating to the Independent Review of the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999, along with associated correspondence with members of the task force.

There are various records of E.R. Deane, a surveyor, relating to his work in the Goulburn district (38 boxes, 4 fol. boxes, 1 elephant fol. item).

The MS 8346 collection is organised in the following series: 1. Curriculum vitae autobiographical notes. 2. General administration, 1933-37: includes 10 diaries other papers relating to Black's career as Cadet Patrol Officer in New Guinea. 3. Hagen-Sepik Patrol, 1937-39: includes correspondence, maps, survey books, photographs diaries. Diaries contain detailed illustrated accounts of Black's role in the Hagen-Sepik Patrol. 4. War service - New Guinea, 1940-44: papers relating to Black's service with ANGAU during the war. 5. War service -Boneo, 1945: mostly roneoed notes issued to personnel. 6. Post-war Administration, 1946-47: papers relating to Black's position as Assistant Director Planning Research in Port Moresby. 7. Post war business, 1948-51: Diaries, letter books, staff work books other papers, relating to Black's various business interests in Port Moresby. 8. Post New Guinea, 1951-88: Black returned to South Australia in 1951, but he maintained an interest in New Guinea. Includes correspondence, cuttings other papers (20 boxes).

The collection includes correspondence, diaries and notebooks, manuscript drafts, photographs, research files, newspaper cuttings and other published material. They provide a near-comprehensive coverage of Dutton's public career as an author, poet, academic, editor, critic, publisher and journalist. The papers document Dutton's life as 'a man of letters' who was often researching and writing three or four books simultaneously, while at the same time compiling anthologies, editing magazines and attending conferences.

The Fisher Papers include correspondence on family and official matters, departmental minutes and administrative papers, press cuttings, photographs, personal documents, and books and pamphlets. Much of this material document Fisher's political career, especially his terms as Australia's Prime Minister (1908-1909, 1910-1913, 1914-1915), and his work as High Commissioner in London (1915-1921). The correspondents include George Ryland, Matthew Reid, W. Demaine, J. C. Watson, Frank Tudor, D. C. McGrath, James Page, Albert Gardiner, W. G. Higgs, Josiah Thomas, Sir George Pearce, Keith A. Murdoch, W.M. Hughes, Sir George Reid, Colonel Anderson and General Birdwood.
