Abstract Or Scope
The four volumes comprise the following: I. Manuscript entitled "Ralph Rashleigh or the life of an exile" by Giacamo di Rosenberg (1 vol.), ca. 1845. II. Typescript entitled "Ralph Rashleigh or the life of an exile by Giacamo di Rosenberg", transcribed by Charles Bertie in the 1920s (2 vols.). A letter written by G. Wren Howard of Jonathan Cape to Bertie, 4 September 1929, concerning corrections in any reprint of the novel, is included in the first volume. The manuscript was first published in London by Jonathan Cape in 1929. A new edition was edited by Colin Roderick and first published by Angus and Robertson in 1952.

Printed pamphlets by Patrick Morris: Observations on the present state of Newfoundland in reference to its courts of justice, local government and trade in a letter addressed to the Right Honourable Henry Earl Bathurst by an inhabitant of the colony(1823). Arguments to prove the policy and necessity of granting to Newfoundland a constitutional government in a letter 1828 to the Right Honourable W. Huskisson, Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies by P. Morris, an inhabitant of the colony at Newfoundland. Morris considered the new form of government for New South Wales, of Governor and Council nominated by the Governor, as 'more objectionable than any other for the colonies'. Report of the Select Committee Appointed to Inquire into the Present State of Agriculture in this Colony (Chairman: Patrick Morris), Parliamentary Paper.

Collection consists of a letterbook, two sketchbooks and seven journals describing Mackie's missionary tour of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa in 1852-1855.The journals record not only Mackie's missionary work but also details of colonial social and economic life. The sketchbooks include small and detailed drawings of typographical, botanical and natural history subjects. They also record the early settlements and scenery in Australia, New Zealand and the Cape.
