The collection documents Temby's legal career between 1972 and 1988 and reflects his diverse interests and activities. The papers include documentation relating to Temby's involvement in local government (as Councillor of the City of Subiaco 1982-83, and as ALP candidate for the Western Australia Legislative Assembly for the seat of Nedlands in 1981), the Legal Advice Bureau (founded by Temby, Senator Fred Chaney and Peter Dowding), Law Council of Australia (President 1983-84), Law Society of Western Australia (President 1982-83) and occasional tutor and lecturer in Law at the University of Western Australia.
The records include files on the founding of ACFOA, correspondence, minutes, reports, chronological files of board meetings, education campaigns, files on particular countries and member agencies, material of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCAD) and records relating to the International Disaster Emergency Committee (IDEC).

The papers in MS 8328 comprise manuscripts and typescript drafts of Hasluck's novels, poetry, plays and other literary works. In addition, there are letters from publishers, agents and other writers, reviews of his books, files about literary and cultural organisations and a few legal papers. Other material includes manuscripts, typescripts, book reviews and correspondence relating to Hasluck's father, Sir Paul Hasluck. The papers have been organised into nine series.
