Henry Pelham Clinton (1811-1864), Earl of Lincoln, 5th Duke of Newcastle (succeeded 1851).

Educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. Tory M.P. 1832-1846, Peelite M.P. 1846-1851. Lord of Treasury 1834-1835, Commissioner of Woods and Forests 1841-1846, Chief Secretary for Ireland 1846. Secretary of State for War and Colonies in Aberdeen Government December 1852-June 1854, Secretary of State for War in Aberdeen Government June 1854-February 1855, Secretary of State for Colonies in Palmerston Government June 1859-April 1864.
