Background

Content Summary:
Mr McKergow was one of the 100 Civil Construction Corps (CCC) crew who were encamped on top of the Paluma Range for two years during the Second World War. The timber extracted by the CCC was used by the army for buildings, railway sleepers and many other needs, even including war zone use. There are photos of Townsville during and after the war, showing Castle Hill, Garbutt Drome, and scenes connected to the U.S. Forces while the Battle of the Coral Sea was fought. The collection also consists of War petrol ration cards and copies of other documents issued during the war.
