Content Summary:

This collection consists of portraits; family groups at events such as weddings; children, friends and relatives; conferences; churches; and houses. Includes two photographs by May Moore, one by Arthur Collingridge and many by Sydney and country firms. The collection also contains postcards with images of Australian and overseas churches, as well as artwork reproductions.

Biographical / Historical:

Ernest Henry Burgmann (1885-1967) was an Australian Anglican Bishop and social activist. He was installed as Bishop of Goulburn in May 1934, where he served until he retired in 1960. In 1950, the diocese of Goulburn expanded to include both Goulburn and Canberra. During his lifetime, Burgmann was active in Australian politics, particularly on issues relating to social justice and the working class.
