MS 7617 documents Claasz's schooldays in Ceylon, employment there as a manager of a tea plantation owned by the Scottish Tea and Lands Company of Ceylon Limited, personal and family life, emigration to Australia in 1972, and managerial jobs in ANU Press, the Australian National Gallery, Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation and Zeilan Ventures. Includes papers on establishment of tea plantations in Queensland, diaries and notebooks relating to tea planting, crop yields, field notebooks relating to tea planting and other notebooks, school notebooks and certificates, Buddhist palm-leaf manuscript written in old Singhalese script on the subject of astrology, press cuttings, printed items, photographs, notes and articles on tea, personal and business diaries, family and personal letters and some papers of the Scottish Tea and Lands Co., Ceylon.
MS Acc14.149 comprises KPMG Corporate finance logbooks for the period 1996-1998, and personal logs of Claasz's time in Alice Springs with Desert Knowledge CRC.
MS Acc14.015 comprises journals in which Claasz documents his business-related activities during the following periods: Jul 1994-Feb 1996 (7 volumes), Apr 1998-Jul 2000 (11 volumes), and Sep 2003-Dec 2005 (7 volumes). The period covered includes Claasz's work as a board member of the Snowy Mountain Engineering Corporation (1998-2000) and his work with CRC for Robust and Adaptive Systems. There is also a small amount of business correspondence (1988-1991).
The MS Acc18.158 accession comprises family letters between Manfred Claasz's mother and her nephew John Kingsman Beling; a descendancy chart; journals of the Dutch Burger Union of Ceylon; a printed book on Familiar Birds of Ceylon by Cicely Kershaw (1925) and photographs.
