Background
- Content Summary:
- Boxes in the original collection run have three sets of identifying numbers: those originally assigned by the ACNT, those applied by the commercial storage facility, National Record Managers, and the current consecutive sequence applied by the Library. The Library was selective in accepting material from the collection stored with National Record Managers: around two thirds of that material is retained in the current NLA collection. The latter comprises correspondence with internal and external agencies, promotional pamphlets, meeting and conference minutes, policy and planning documents, reports, photographs, press clippings and materials relating to specific conservation/heritage sites and campaigns. There are also separate files on external bodies such UNESCO and the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS).
- Collection Retrieval Advice:
-
Please note: each consignment in this collection has a separate box number sequence (i.e. there are multiple Box 1's). Please cite the relevant Class number as well as the Box number when requesting retrieval of material from the collection.
- Immediate Source of Acquisition:
-
The original donation was made to the Library in July 2002 and an addition was received in October 2004. An additional consignment was received in 2007.
- Arrangement:
-
The current order of the collection largely preserves the ACNT's original arrangement of files. Nearly all of the files were in more or less ordered runs arranged by subject headings, which have been retained as box titles, although some files had been stored in particular boxes purely as a space-saving measure. Loose papers were foldered and given titles which endeavour to match document content and the sequence of existing file titles.
The part of the guide relating to the original donation materials is based on the list supplied by ACNT. Slight modifications were made, primarily in the interests of fullness of information.
The additional files received in 2004 arrived in a similarly ordered runs arranged by subject matter, although without any accompanying formal listing. The majority of files were added to the end of the existing main run and a few miscellaneous files added to existing 'Miscellaneous' boxes.
