- The collection comprises research material on the life and work of Walter Burley Griffin and his wife Marion Mahony Griffin. Includes research notes, correspondence, bibliographies, publications, copies of journal articles and theses, photographs of people and buildings, architectural plans, drawings, and microfilms. Also includes various versions of Marion Mahony Griffin's unpublished autobiographical work 'The Magic of America'.

Donald L Johnson was born in the United States in 1930 and completed a Master of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. From 1972-88 he was Senior Lecturer in Architectural History at Flinders University, Adelaide. He has published many articles and a number of books on architecture and town planning, with his particular interests being Walter Burley Griffin and Frank Lloyd Wright. The collection described herein was gathered by Johnson in the process of his research into the work of Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin.
