- Part of the collection comprises letters from Australian writers to Dr. Mackaness, some of them relating to his publication in 1946 of "Poets in Australia: An Anthology of Australian Verse." There are 150 manuscripts by Bulletin writers (1918-1920) in the collection, together with some 800 other manuscripts by Australian writers.
