Content Summary:
The files include the constitution and by-laws of the organisation, membership details, correspondence, minutes of annual general meetings, committees and State Divisions, annual reports, newsletters and printed matter. Original consignment: the records extend from the foundation of the Institute in 1926 until 1976, and include correspondence files relating to: the constitution and by-laws of the organisation; its calendar, brochures and manuals; membership enquiries and policy; subscriptions; education courses in planning available in each state; overseas planning organisations; the employment of planners; salaries and fees for professionals; Scientific and Technological Information Services (STISEC) report to the Council of the National Library of Australia; correspondence with the State Divisions; card files of members; minutes of annual general meetings, committees and state divisions; annual reports; computer cards and printout tabulations from the 1966 national census. 1979 consignment: records include obituaries of Walter Bunning and Alfred John Brown and the files of three deceased members, John P. Tate, Malcolm Moir and John Noble Rogers 1989 consignment: the 1989 addition covers the years 1976-87. It consists of multiple binders containing the records of the RAPI Federal Division, State Divisions and other RAPI related material concerning the Australian Professional Consultants Council, the Australian Overseas Disaster Response Organisation, Land Management Professionals and the Design Arts Board.
Provenance:

The records were donated to the Library by the Royal Australian Planning Institute. The first consignment of was donated in 1978, and additional material was donated in 1979 and 1989.

There is no descriptive list for the 1978 or 1979 consignments.

This list describes the 1989 consignment. The material has been retained in the original binders.
