A.J.W. (Tony) Powell worked as a civil engineer before being appointed as the Commissioner of the National Capital Development Commission in 1973, a position which he held until 1985.

The collection was donated to National Library by Mr A.J.W. Powell in January 1992. It contains addresses and speeches, photocopies of articles written by other people and miscellaneous printed material.
