Content Summary:

The first part of the series contains letters exchanged between Maxwell Newton and his daughter Sarah and letters and sympathy cards to his third wife Valerie 'Olivia' Newton after his death in 1990.

Other correspondents include Larry Henry, Paul Weaver, Ned Chase, Scott Ivey, Sir Charles Court, Frank Devine, James Blanchard, Mark Levit, H.W. Arndt, Graham Dyer, Elizabeth Currier, Greg Copley, G. Jurkowich, Malcolm Forbes, J. V. Deaver, Milton Friedman, Rupert Murdoch, Collins Co, and ENT Ltd. There are very few examples of Newton's letters as he did not keep copies of his replies.

The papers were originally filed in an alphabetical sequence. While this arrangement has not been maintained, the arrangement of papers within each file were preserved along with Newton's original file titles.

Immediate source of acquisition:
The papers were purchased by the National Library from Mrs Olivia Newton in 1992.
