Background

Content Summary:

The collection comprises archival records which relate to the formation and administration of the Green Mill Dance Project and the co-ordination, by the project, of an annual festival of dance between 1993 and 1997.

The records consist of administration files, financial records, board records, promotional material, photographs and slides and ephemera. They include correspondence with participants, suppliers, sponsors, venue managers and government authorities, minutes of meetings, grant applications, reports, statistics, programs, media releases, publicity material, posters and biographical notes on participants.

Selected papers from the 1994 and 1995 festivals were edited by Hilary Trotter and published by the Australian Dance Council (Ausdance), Canberra on Green Mill's behalf. Included in the collection are papers accumulated by Trotter in the process of editing the two publications Dance and narrative: the Green Mill Dance Project Papers, 1994 and Is Technology the future for dance? The Green Mill Project Papers, 1995.

The material provides a comprehensive record of the work of the project.

Provenance:

The records of the Green Mill Dance Project were donated to the Library by the Project's board in 1998 and by the Australian Dance Council (Ausdance) in July 2001.

Arrangement:

Most of the records had been arranged into files by the organisation, and the arrangement has been maintained by the Library.
