Background

Content Summary:
The bulk of the collection comprises edited draft manuscripts and typescripts of several of Condon's works. Also included are draft typescripts of some unpublished short stories, a small amount of correspondence with publishers, letters from the author Georgia Savage, publicity photographs, reviews and newspaper clippings.
Biographical Note:

Matthew Condon is a journalist and an author. Born on 5 March 1962, he was educated at the University of Queensland, and studied German at the Goethe Institute, Bremen in Germany.

Condon began his career as a journalist with the Gold Coast Bulletin in 1982. From here he moved to the Brisbane Courier Mail, and then to the Sydney Sun-Herald, for a time as its London correspondent, and more recently in Sydney as literary editor.

Condon's first book, The motorcycle café, was published in 1988. Since then he has gone on to publish several works, as well as contribute short stories to collections, journals and newspapers.
