- The collection of papers accumulated while Heather and Ronald Newman lived on Ocean Island comprises of a diary kept by Heather and Ronald Newman from February to September 1962 detailing their experiences in Nauru and beyond, Correspondence and notes from their houseboy Rakenang about matters of hiring and household tasks, correspondence from a local woman asking for employment at Dr. Newman's practice, photograph album of the Newmans with local children, handwritten book 'Stories from the Gilbert and Ellice Islands,' and a a manuscript of The Japanese Occupation of Ocean Island and Nauru, Native Legends, The Diary Of D. Patrick Cook. It also includes ephemera and publications.
