The Co-operative League of Victoria was established in 1940 with John Mahony as president and W.F. Allen, Secretary. It aimed to unite those who believed in the principles of co-operation and to fulfil in Victoria the role played in England by the British Co-operative Unions.
Barry joined the League in August 1940 and accepted a position on its Council.
The series is small, and includes a typescript copy of the plan to establish and develop the co-operative movement in Melbourne, correspondence dated 1940 and 1941 with Mahony, Allen, J.Greig and J. Gibbs, typescript copies of an address 'The economic road to a real democracy', which Barry gave on behalf of the League, in Geelong in 1940, an article 'The potentialities of consumers' co-operation' published in The Australian statesman, May 1941, and The middle way, volume 1, nos 1 and 2.
