Content Summary:

Barry was admitted to membership of the Australian Journalists' Association (Victoria District) in September 1943. Later that year he was elected chairman of its newly formed Ethics Committee which was set up to ensure and maintain ethical standards in journalism and broadcasting. Much of the series consists of correspondence with G. Andrews, G. Sparrow, A.E. Davies and P.J. Bennett dealing with the terms of the proposed code of ethics and procedures. A copy of the final code is included, together with a report of the NSW District of the A.J.A. dated 1943 which set out its rules, as a guide for other districts.

There are also Barry's annotated copies of Constitution and rules of the A.J.A. dated 1940 and 1945, and Annual reports of the A.J.A. (Victoria district) 1944 and 1945.
