Background

Content Summary:

The Darryl Thompson Menu Collection includes menus from across Australia, domestic and international ships and airlines, several countries including France, Germany, Belgium, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, and the Zollinger collection.

Collected by Darryl Thompson (1950-) over the course of 40 years, the collection includes official government functions, special events with guest/celebrity chefs, weddings, fine dining establishments and suburban take-away shops.

Darryl Thompson was born in 1950 and worked as a chef and taught cookery for over 25 years at Regency Park in Adelaide, South Australia, a state renowned for its food and wine culture. One topic he taught was 'menu planning' and he collected a broad range of material to illustrate the development of commercial dining in the hotel/restaurant/cafe trade.
