Porcelain card. Around 1840 a clever paper and cardboard industrialist, found an emulsion to coat light cardboard. It had a milky colour and a brilliance which made it comparable to porcelain. Lithographers used the special cardboard and made all sorts of cards. However it contains lead white and was deemed dangerous to workers around 1850.
