Background

Content Summary:

The Handel Opera Society was formed by a small group of opera lovers on the inspiration of the late Professor Dent. Their aim was to revive public interest in professional stage performances in England of Handel's dramatic works. The society's first productions were given in the St. Pancras Assembly Rooms; since 1959 it gives a short season each year at Sadler's Wells Theatre. Operated from 1959 to 1985.
