MS Acc12.145 comprises letters from Andrew Somervaille to his wife, "Ray", written while he was stationed in Asia during the Second World War. The letters cover the time from his departure for Malaya in June 1940 to his return from Singapore in 1945. Also included are photographs and a newspaper clipping (2 folders).
Biographical / Historical:

Andrew James Law Somervaille was a soldier during the Second World War. He was taken prisoner of war in Singapore. Somervaille died in Sydney in 1984. His wife, Eileen Mary Ray Somervaille, lived in Waratah, a suburb of Newcastle, during the Second World War.
