Background

Content Summary:

Material in the Australian performing arts programs and ephemera (PROMPT) collection consists of programs and related items of the Bach Choir including theatre programs of various Australian performers.

The Bach Choir was founded in 1876, and so named in commemoration of the first performance in England of J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor under Otto Goldschmidt. The Choir has performed a wide variety of music from the sixteenth century to the present day including not only the major choral works but also lesser known repertoire. Its annual performances of J S Bach's St Mathew Passion and its annual Family Carols concerts have become regular landmarks in British choral music-making.

The list is based on imperfect holdings and is updated over time as gaps in the Library's holdings are filled.
