Content Summary:
Papers assembled by Dudley Longmuir relating mainly during his appointments as Senior Medical Officer with the Commonwealth Rehabilitation Service, Victorian Department of Social Services (1949-1962) and Principal Medical Officer (1962-1974) with the Commonwealth Department of Social Services. The papers include correspondence, reports, articles, minutes, subject files, notes, conference papers and photographs which relate broadly to rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation and rehabilitation centres in Australia and the United Kingdom in the three decades following the second world war. There is also material relating to Longmuir's association with the Australian Council for Rehabilitation of the Disabled.
Biographical Note:

Dudley Owen Longmuir was born in Melbourne on 15 December 1911 and was educated at Scotch College and the University of Melbourne (graduating in 1935). He married Betty James in 1937 and had one son and one daughter.
