Background

Content Summary:

Material in the Australian performing arts programs and ephemera (PROMPT) collection consists of programs and related items of the English Music Theatre including theatre programs of various Australian performers.

The English Music Theatre founded in 1975, and produced works such as opera, operettas and musicals. As well as appearing at festivals such as Aldeburgh, the company undertook regional tours and yearly performance seasons at the Sadler's Wells Theatre in London. The founder and leader of the company was Colin Graham. One of their 1976 productions was The Threepenny Opera by Kurt Weill, conducted by the young Simon Rattle. After a final production of Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1980, the company was disbanded.

The list is based on imperfect holdings and is updated over time as gaps in the Library's holdings are filled.
