The collection includes seven photograph albums, photographs, correspondence, typescripts, cuttings and other papers.
The photographs and photograph albums contain images of family and friends. Other papers include material relating to Howlett's work for the British Broadcasting Corporation and her journey to Sydney aboard the Imperial Airways Flying Boat Service in 1938.
- Biographical Note:

Howlett was born in Temora, New South Wales in 1906. She came to England in 1935 and began working for the British Broadcasting Corporation. Howlett worked for the BBC, as a typist, broadcaster and radio producer, until her retirement in 1967.
In 1938 Howlett was selected as the BBC representative aboard the inaugural flight of the Imperial Airways Flying Boat Service to Sydney.
Howlett died in London in 1994.

The papers were purchased by the Library in May 1995, from Stride and Son of Chichester, England. Further papers, comprising typescript entitled 'Growing up with radio', cuttings and photographs, were donated in June 1995.
