Content Summary:
Collection comprises personal correspondence to and from Shane Simpson with family, friends and colleagues, student papers, professional correspondence, papers relating to Simpson Solicitors and Board, writings by Shane Simpson, reports, reviews of Shane Simpson's work, consulting and Government reports, speeches and conference papers. Additionally, it includes recordings of the radio series 'Arts and the Law' by Shane Simpson, Programs 1-6, which he presented at the Centre for Continuing Education, University of Sydney.
Biographical Note:

Shane Simpson established Simpsons Solicitors in 1986. In 2011 the Federal Government appointed Simpson a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for his service to law and the arts through leading roles in intellectual property and entertainment law, and as a contributor to a range of cultural organisations. He has lectured extensively on the legal matters relating to intellectual property, new technology, publishing, visual arts, music and museums. He headed the Federal Government Inquiry into Copyright Collecting Societies in Australia, and acts as a consultant to governments, NGs, other law firms, institutions and major corporations, both nationally and internationally. He has written or edited numerous books including 'Music Business, Museums and Galleries: a Practical Legal Handbook', 'The Visual Artist and the Law in Australia', 'Discovery and Interrogatories', and 'Music: The Business and the Law'.
