David McBride, was born 15 December 1963, is an Australian is an Australian whistleblower and former British Army major and Australian Army lawyer. In 2016, McBride provided the Australian Broadcasting Corporation with documents that contained information about war crimes committed by Australian soldiers in Afghanistan. In 2018, McBride was charged with several offences related to unlawfully disclosing Commonwealth documents, and pleaded guilty to the charges in 2023. On 14 May 2024, McBride was sentenced to 5 years and 8 months in prison, with a non-parole period of 2 years and 3 months.
