The papers relate entirely to the Sydney Opera House. They include copies of minutes of meetings of Opera House Executive Committee, the Technical Advisory Panel, the Traffic Sub-Committee and minutes of the Opera House Site Conferences. The correspondence includes letters from Jørn Utzon, R. Haviland, H. Thomson, S.L. Bauen, Davis Hughes, R.J. Thomson, K. Turnball, Leslie Martin, Ove Arup Partners, Rider Hunt Partners and MacDonald Wagner Priddle. The collection also includes reports of the Sydney Opera House Trust, published articles, newspaper clippings, reports and recommendations relating to the Opera House, photographs (including some by Max Dupain), an architect's model, drawings and plans of the Opera House at various stages of construction, including Jørn Utzon's original design submitted in the competition in 1958.
Includes a copy of Sydney National Opera House, 1958 (known as the "Red Book") at Map Folio 4; and Sydney Opera House, 1962 (known as the "Yellow Book") at Map Folio 5.
- Biographical Note:

Henry Ingham Ashworth was born in Manchester, U.K. on 20 February 1907, dying in Sydney in November 1991. As a Lieutenant Colonel, he served in India and Burma during World War II and subsequently accepted the Chair of Architectural Design and History at the University of Sydney where he later became Dean of the Faculty of Architecture. In 1964, he joined the University of New South Wales from which he retired Emeritus Professor in 1972.
Ashworth was appointed to the Sydney Opera House Executive Committee in 1956 and became Chairman of its Technical Advisory Committee. He was also Chairman of the committee who assessed entries to an international competition for a design for the proposed opera house, thus giving him a leading role in choosing the winner.
