The collection documents West's activities as academic, historian and political commentator. Professor Francis West donated the papers to the Library in several instalments between 1995 and 2000.

Arrangement:

The papers have been arranged into 20 series. West has kept most of the papers in files and, wherever possible, the Library has retained them. The general arrangement into 20 series and the order of the files within series has been imposed by the Library.
