Indigenous Cultural Intellectual Property (ICIP) Notice: This collection contains Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property (ICIP) of Australian First Nations peoples, specifically art work from the Spinfex people and artwork and language from the Guwamu people. This collection comprises correspondence, minutes, drafts, reports, ephemera (badges, fliers, posters, t-shirts, cards, music, banners etc), books and film relating to the formation of the Global Greens; four Congresses (Canberra, Sao Paolo, Dakar, Liverpool), incorporation and activities http://www.globalgreens.org. Other material includes correspondence, reports, books, ephemera, court cases relating to forests, mallee and other environmental issues from 1970s to the present; forest campaigns in particular but all types of forests (http://www.onestopchop.org)Additional material includes papers on the formation and activities of the Green Institute 2000s to present (greeninstitute.org.au); the Women's Environmental Leadership Australia Program (http://www.welaprogram.org.au) and the Greens other projects; a first Atlas of Australian Birds and material on the foundation and early years of the Victorian Greens and Australian Greens.

Biographical / Historical:

Margaret Blakers (OAM) is a long-term environmental activist and political adviser and a champion of Australia's forests. She organised the first Atlas of Australian Birds, worked on environmental campaigns, and established the Victorian Greens and the national environmental policy of the Australian Greens. Margaret worked as Chief of Staff to Senator Bob Brown, organised the first Global Greens Congress, and founded the Green Institute, of which she was founding Director. In 2016 she was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia for service to conservation and the environment.
