- This collection comprises three diaries written by George Fane De Salis, the son of Leopold Fane De Salis of Cuppacumbalong, documenting life in the Canberra region from 10 April 1896 to 24 March 1900.
- Biographical / Historical:

Pastoralist of Swiss decent. Educated privately and briefly a member of the Legislative Assembly. Spent much of his life on the land. Initially at Cuppacumbalong, Tharwa, then at Soglio, Michelago. Son of Leopold Fane, pastoralist and his wife, Charlotte Macdonald. Born 1 January 1851, married Mary Galliard-Smith on 28 February 1878 in Canberra had 4 daughters and 4 sons. Church of England. Died 30 December 1931.
