Background
- Content Summary:
- Collection of photographs of Warrapingo Station, the pastoral property owned by Charles Lewis and Australian novelist Marianne Lynn Hamilton located near Beaufort, Victoria, northwest of Ballarat, Victoria. The images of Warrapingo were taken around the time of World War One and the early 1920s, probably by a member of the Lewis family, with Marianne Lynn Hamilton featuring in three of the photographs. The images showcase the vastness of the property and the homestead and surrounds. One of the photographs also has a handwritten message on the reverse which is signed 'M'; the specific content of the message points clearly to it having been written by Marianne to a family member in Ballarat during the Spanish flu pandemic of 1919-20.
