Component identifier:
Series 34
Content Summary:
During the course of his career, Martin reviewed an enormous number of books. The genres were varied and included biographies, poetry collections, fiction, non-fiction, travel writings and social commentaries. He occasionally reviewed theatre as well. This series comprises a large collection of newspaper and journal cuttings of book and theatre reviews written by Martin. Martin's own arrangement of the cuttings has been retained.
Immediate source of acquisition:
The main body of David Martin Papers was acquired partly under the Taxation Incentives for the Arts Scheme and partly by outright purchase by the National Library in September 1983. Additional instalments were purchased over the period 1985-97. The papers document the long career of one of Australia's most prolific writers.
