Biographical / Historical:

Founded in 1953 to support the Art Gallery of New South Wales, the Society is a not-for-profit public company and registered charity with our own governing council, staff, budget, annual report and events program. This structure enables us to raise funds to assist the Art Gallery with acquisitions of art, for which there is currently no government funding. Formerly known as 'The National Gallery Society of New South Wales'.
