Biographical / Historical:

The Australian Republic Movement (ARM) is a non-partisan member-driven organisation campaigning for Australia to become an independent republic. It was founded on July 7, 1991, and its first chairman was novelist Thomas Keneally, with other founding members including former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, former Australian cricket captain, Ian Chappell, and film director Fred Schepisi. It was later headed by journalist and author Peter FitzSimons.
