- Most of the papers in MS 9298 comprise correspondence, research material and drafts of The yellow lady: Australian impressions of Asia (Oxford University Press, 1992). The collection also includes papers on The male reasons (unpublished novel), book reviews and other writings, drafts of speeches and talks, official papers (relating to Broinowski's career in the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and seminar and conference papers. The correspondents include Nicholas Jose, Peter Rushford, Martin Sharp, Don'o Kim, Carolina de Waart, Mark O'Connor, Christopher Koch, John Wolseley, Harold Williams, Peter Sculthorpe, Vincent Plush, Yasmine Gooneratne, Heja Chong, Jim Angel, Alfred W. McCoy, R.F. Brissenden, Solrun Hoaas, David Marr, Tim Bowden, Blanche d'Alpuget, Michael Costigan, Stephen Fitzgerald, Rick Thompson, Richard Woolcott, Gregory Clark, Henry Albinski, John Trotter, Bill Hayden, Erland H. Heginbotham and Thea Astley. Copies of many of Broinowski's letters are included (26 boxes).
