- Content Summary:
- Includes article by Martin Johnston, 'The songs of the robbers' pp. 31-33 (March) and 'The paintings of Theofilos', pp. 26-30. Neither essay is reproduced in John Tranter's Martin Johnston: selected poems and prose (UQP, 1993) - they are both about subjects which were very important to Martin. His fascination with Kleftika Traghoudhia (Robber Songs) began when he was 12. Some of these songs appear in his book of translations, Ithaka. The paintings of Theofilos connect with the subject matter of Martin's long poem 'To the Innate Island'.
