This file contains correspondence and articles relating to the life of Pierre-Marie-Alexandre Dumoutier (1797–1871), one of two civilians on the staff of the Astrolabe during Dumont d'Urville's final expedition, 1837–1840. Dumoutier was appointed as a phrenologist and 'anatomical preparator', but ultimately also served as an additional medical officer.
