Records in this Series consist of documents accumulated by the Transport board, which existed from 1794 to 1817, and by other branches of the Admiralty that provided the transport service before and after those dates. They contain information of a fairly routine nature, relating to the provision of transports for moving troops and convicts- a considerable proportion of this material relates to Australia.
These records include in-letters from Admiralty Office and Treasury, out-letters to other offices, registers of in- and out-letters, ships' and freight ledgers.
The Australian Joint Copying Project filmed pieces 1-30 and 115-143 in their entirety, selected extracts were filmed from all other pieces.
