Anne Hale (1833-1912) was the daughter of Robert Blagden Hale MP of Alderley House, Gloucestershire. Matthew Blagden Hale, the first Bishop of Western Australia (1857-1875), was her uncle. She married Lieut. Thomas Sherwood in 1859.
Sherwood retired from the army in 1863 and they migrated to Australia in 1864 or 1865. They purchased a station at Unumgar in the Richmond River district of New South Wales and lived there for about ten years. In 1912, following the deaths of her two brothers, she inherited Alderley House, but she died a month later.
