The papers comprise genealogical papers 1872, and letters of William, Thomas and Edward Pedley, and other members of the family in Victoria and South Australia.
Biographical / Historical:

William Pedley (1836-1902) was the son of Edward Pedley (1804-1876), a farmer of Sandbach, Cheshire. He migrated to Adelaide in 1857 and worked as a shearer, farm labourer and road worker.Two of William Pedley's cousins also migrated to Australia. Thomas Pedley (b. 1827) and Edward Pedley (b. 1823) were the sons of Richard Pedley, the brother of Edward Pedley. Thomas Pedley lived in Melbourne, while Edward Pedley lived in Williamstown, Victoria. Edward worked in the Victorian Railways for many years. He had a son, George, and two daughters, Nellie and Kate. Kate was a schoolteacher.
