Thomas Pelham (1756-1826), Baron Pelham (summoned 1801), 2nd Earl of Chichester (succeeded 1805).
Educated at Westminster School and Cambridge University. M.P. 1783-90, 1795-1801. Originally a Whig, he supported the Pitt Government after 1794. Surveyor-General of Ordnance, 1782-83, Chief Secretary of Ireland 1783-84, 1795-98, Home Secretary in Addington Government 1801-3, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster 1803-4, Postmaster-General, 1807-26.
