- The records comprise financial papers, correspondence and legal papers relating to the company's operations in Australia and New Zealand. Correspondents include F.M. Munro, David Fell, George D. Cockburn, J. Matthews and A. Battye.
- Biographical / Historical:

Founded in 1736 by Argyllshire fishermen to supply them with reliable ropes. In 1811 the works moved to Port Glasgow and the control passed into the hands of the Campbell and Birkmyre families. In 1903 the firm amalgamated with Lanark to form Gourock Rope Works Co. Ltd.
