Letters 1963-1975 of Peter Porter and other writers sent to publisher Harry Chambers concerning the poetry magazine Phoenix (closed until 2005).

Records 1942-1949 of Union of Democratic Control concerning Australia, Malaya, Sumatra and Philippines. Subjects include: migration to Australia; independence movements; and Japanese treatment of Malays.

Correspondence 1939-1951 between J. Henry Lloyd and Dr J. Bell Ferguson of South Yarra. Subjects include: Tasmanian sweepstake; BMA opposition to a national health service in Australia; Ferguson's job as physician at Royal Melbourne Hospital; and political views.

Records 1945-1954 of Revolutionary Communist Party, including: campaign against military intervention in Java and Indo-China; resolution of the Labour Socialist Group of Australia on forthcoming conference of RCP; strikes by painters and dockers in Australia; and position of communism in Australia.

Southeast Asian manuscripts 1823-1948, including letter of Charles S. Brett referring to: conditions on a rubber estate due to economic climate in 1929; typescript 'Education in the Netherlands Indies' by B.H.M. Vlekke; 'Anthology of Malaya' by H.R. Cheeseman; diary of an officer in the Public Works Department in Penang 1890-1892 and photograph albums.

Papers 1850-1909 of William M. Baines who lived in Auckland in 1851-1868. Includes: a diary describing voyage to New Zealand on the Sir Edward Paget in 1850; accounts of life and conditions of early settlers in New Zealand; timber mill; accounts of Baines voyage to England on the Kate Waters in 1868; Mount Eden Gold Mining Co; sinking of the Tauranga; and family news. Correspondents include W.P. Fooks, M.V. Baines, P.V. Dixon, J.W. Dixon, E.V. Dixon, A. Hunter and R.C. Dyer.

Emigrant letters 1862-1869 sent to Marmaduke C. Maxwell. Correspondents include nephews Robert, Wilfred and Edward Maxwell, who worked on sheep stations in New Zealand.
