Subject areas cover park management; history of land use; science of alpine ecosystems in Australia; role of Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Authority; personalities closely involved in Kosciuszko State and National Park management such as Sir William McKell, Sir Garfield Barwick, Sir William Hudson, ES Clayton, Baldur Byles, Milo Dunphy, Alec Costin. This instalment also includes a separate collection of Baldur Byles, which was bequeathed to Neville Gare on Byles's death, as Gare was writing his biography. The collection comprises papers relating to the Franklin River Blockade, a protest against a decision by the Tasmanian Government to dam the Franklin River to generate hydro-electricity. The protest was coordinated by the Tasmanian Wilderness Society (TWS). The papers are a personal record of the campaign and include trainer materials on facilitation and consensus decision making detailing the internal politics of the campaign, reports, handbooks and information leaflets, meeting notes and agendas, ephemera, pictures, and personal correspondence between family, and campaigners throughout the blockade.

This collection comprises slides taken by Jim Frazier during fieldwork with Mary E White. The images, which document fossils, landscapes, minerals and other geological features, were used for many of her publications including "The Greening of Gondwana" (1986), "Time in Our Hands: Semi-Precious Gemstones: Keys to the Geological Past" (1991), "Nature of Hidden Worlds: Reading the rock" (1999) and others. It provides a valuable documentary record of Australia's unique geology and landscape and is a testament to changing relationship of Australia's to the environment. Many of the slides have annotated housing with outlines, species names, measurements, and other information. There is also a small number of photographic prints and negatives included in the collection.

This collection comprises letters, photographs and signed agreements sent to Peter Solness regarding his "Tree Stories" project. The bulk of the letters are from tree enthusiasts from all around Australia writing about their favourite trees. The letters were the result of multiple talk-back radio sessions Solness did at the time on the ABC evening show, which had a national broadcast. It was a way of sourcing material in the production of the book. Solness asked listeners to send details for possible inclusion in the book. The signed agreements are from those listeners and other contributors whose writings were included in the book.
