The papers comprise files maintained by Hohnen while Registrar and Secretary of the Australian National University, 1949-76; drafts and research materials for a history of the Australian National Universtiy; appointment diaries; papers relating to the 1995 review of the Institute of Advanced Studies; and papers relating to Hohnen's involvement in numerous organisations including the Industrial Design Council of Australia, Australian Frontier Incorporated, the National Heart Foundation, Heart Research Institute, and the Scout Association of Australia.

The collection documents aspects of Passmore's career from the 1930s to 1997, and includes extensive series of correspondence (personal, professional and family), together with writings, reviews, conference papers, awards and invitations related to his various academic and writing activities. Also featured in the papers are photographs, articles and speeches, interviews by or about Passmore and papers relating to a conference celebrating his career.
The papers include personal and professional correspondence, drafts and typescripts of poetry, copies of articles, reviews, talks, lectures, manuscripts, writings, notes, cuttings and reports relating to Mead's career as a poet, writer, editor, lecturer, teacher and literary reviewer.
The collection comprises papers relating to Halligan's prolific career as a writer. There are drafts of her books, short stories and reviews and papers relating to her participation in numerous literary events. There is a large series of correspondence, mostly relating to literary and publicity matters. Included is correspondence with literary agents Curtis Brown, numerous publishers regarding publication of Halligan's books, editors of journals and newspapers regarding publication of her short stories, reviews essays and articles and with organisations regarding personal appearances. There is also correspondence with other authors, many of whom have become personal friends. The collection contains a large amount of personal correspondence, which comprises letters written by Bouras to her family and the letters of family and friends to Bouras. Bouras' letters in particular provide an insight into the cultural adjustments required in settling into life in a traditional Greek village. There is also a small amount of business correspondence with publishers and her literary agent, Curtis Brown, concerning publication of her books and with the Council of Adult Education in Melbourne for which she has worked.
